Currently Reading: 100 Days of Cake by Shari Goldhagen

What Are You Reading Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by It’s a Reading Thing. Learn more about WAYRW here.

1. I’m currently reading 100 Days of Cake by Shari Goldhagen. It’s a cute, funny but also touching story about a girl, her depression, a fish store and many, many, many baked goods.

2. Here’s a little teaser from page 34:

So much of what was going on was stuff I couldn’t even explain to myself, even if I’d wanted to. Then one day Dr. B noticed me tucking my earphones into my backpack, and he asked about what kind of music I listened to. We started talking about some of the nineties bands that I knew from Alex or my mom, and it turned out that Dr. B had actually seen a lot of them when he was in high school and college. For the next session he brought in some Stone Temple Pilots bootlegs, and we talked about those, and gradually, talking about other stuff got a little easier.

3. So far I would absolutely want to live in Molly’s world. I can relate a lot to her struggles and would love to have her as a friend. I also would love the chance to hang out with her and Alex, eating house special lo mein and watching Golden Girls marathons in an old fish store. Coral Cove sounds adorable so far!

What are you all reading this week?

Currently Reading: Saving Montgomery Sole by Mariko Tamaki

1. I’m currently reading Saving Montgomery Sole by Mariko Tamaki. I’m doing my first blog tour post on it next week and I’m pretty psyched for it. So far it’s really good, although I’ve just dipped my toe into it.

2. Here’s a little teaser from page 34:

Clearly this was just laziness on the old lady’s part because I can go online and in two seconds find, like, intensive documentation of the different paranormal spirits inhabiting their houses and other buildings. I could go online right now and buy a Spirit Tracker if I was so inclined. There’s a guy in Iowa who sells them for, like, a hundred bucks (plus shipping).

3. So far I would love to live in Montgomery’s world. Her two friends seem close and supportive, her moms are endless loving and she’s the kind of girl who believes in an answer to big questions. Sign me up.

What are you guys reading right now?

Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes

What Are You Reading Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by It’s a Reading Thing. Learn more about WAYRW here.

1. I’ve seen Paula Stokes floating around Twitter for a while and some of my friends swear by her books and how amazing they are. I’m getting my first taste of her work this week reading Girl Against the Universe and can already say that I’m super impressed!

2. Here’s a snippet from page 34:

‘You’re smiling,’ Perfectly Assembled Boy says. Today he’s back in his fancy jeans and button-up shirt, his hair impeccably messy.

‘No I’m not.’

‘Yes you are.’

3. I would absolutely love to live in the Universe of #GATU. Even if she might be just a bit unlucky, Maguire seems like she would be a great friend. I’d love to get some tennis lessons from Jordy, work on cars with Penn and maybe even talk to Dr. Leed about some of my own issues (he also seems to be a pretty decent unintentional matchmaker).
